Greetings!
Today, we have the full moon, with the sun in the mutable fire sign of Sagittarius and the moon in the mutable air sign Gemini. Full moons bring intense energy themselves, but in addition to this, Mercury is stationing direct. There is a grand fire trine and a mutable T-Square aspect pattern. So, in short, a lot is happening, and unlike other full moons, this is not the apex of challenges but rather the harbinger of things to come.
Let’s start with the mutable T-Square. This is happening between the sun and moon opposition for the full moon in Sagittarius and Gemini, respectively, and both are forming a challenging square aspect to Neptune in Pisces. A mutable sign T-Square is a pressurizing aspect pattern that brings challenges, some of which can be transmuted into opportunities. These challenges may concern communication, compassion, spirituality, and diplomacy. All of that is tempered by knowing when to act and when not to. An easy way to think of this has to do with your ability to “read the room.” This is a basic social skill that has to do with knowing where your audience is psychologically and communicating with them on their level. Reading the room also means knowing what your audience can handle and what they can’t. This T-Square is empowered by Mercury, who is moving retrograde to direct, meaning the next day or two might seem like a mini-Mercury retrograde, but this is the last of the cycle, and once we’re through this next week, communication should go back to normal.
The grand fire trine is something else to take note of. This pattern occurs between the North Node of the moon retrograde in Aries, Mars retrograde in Leo, and the aforementioned stationing Mercury in Sagittarius. A fire grand trine tells us the energy in the air is stronger and that people may be more fiery than normal, whether in spirit or temper. People may be in more of a hurry than normal, too, but if you focus the energy, you may be able to accomplish more than you planned. But, two-thirds of the points in the fire grand trine are retrograde, telling us there may be more inner pressure than visible to others. This serves as a reminder that we may not know what inner battles others are facing, and if we keep that in mind, we can be compassionate to those who need it the most.
Nine of the twelve substantial points used in astrology are in either fire or air signs, telling us that is where much of the focus is. Air is the intellect, mind, social skills, philosophy, and communication, and fire is the element of action, activity, decisiveness, competition, motion, aggression, and athleticism, as well as the spiritual fire that dwells in every living thing. When we remember chemistry, we are reminded that air feeds fire. If you take away air from a fire, the fire dies, but if you feed a fire air, it grows. Thus, the lesson here is that by using your mind for motivation, you can accomplish quite a lot, whether it involves taking care of business or making deeper spiritual connections.
A tense opposition between Mars retrograde in Leo and Venus in Aquarius is also present, revealing that people may be suffering from inner tension related to the recognition of and the application of their inner masculine and feminine sides. In the context of the rest of the activity, this opposition can be seen as less potent but still relevant.
If you put everything together, you see this time, from now until Wednesday, is going to be full of challenges with communication, travel, cool-headedness, living a spiritually good life, morality, and doing unto others what you want done unto you. If harnessed, the energy can be channeled to productive, positive ends, but if unharnessed, that same energy may be destructive, especially to yourself.
This activity is profoundly timed in that this full moon sets the stage for a year-end review. We are approaching the end of the calendar year, and the recent Mercury retrograde, in conjunction with this full moon, has illuminated what we need to take care of before proceeding and what internal work we need to do before we grow up.
And, let’s face it. This is the holiday season, so when we really look at how we can apply this knowledge, we see how much of an edge we can get when it comes to knowing where we stand after this year, and how much we are ready for next year. This is where the true power of astrology is. Astrology is all about riding the energetic currents and working with them rather than controlling them or letting them control us.
Consider this blog a warning for the next few days so you do not get surprised when less-informed people get swept up in the holiday spirit to excess. Times are busy, and people are hurrying, which means they are not thinking about others, so if you keep in mind where they are coming from (I.e., you read the room) and what astrological energies they are subjected to, the more you are in control of the situation, and the better your responses to problems will be.
Happy Holidays from my house to yours!
Namaste,
