Happy Full Moon Pisces!

Greetings,

This blog is going to be focused on one particular important point that has occurred since my last blog entry. In  my mind, it is almost as important as the fall of the Berlin wall, if not more so. With this entry I would like to discuss the Egyptian revolution. To begin with, it is worth noting that this was the end of the rule of Hosni Mubarak. Mubarak took over after the assassination of Anwar Sadat in 1981. The date of the beginning of Mubarak’s reign is commonly considered October 14, 1981, which is when the public announcement was made. At that time, Egypt was placed under martial law, and although with Mubarak’s leadership, Egypt was considered a democracy, it is also commonly known that this was only a facade, as the martial law didn’t end under his reign. Technically, it is still in effect, and even now, it may be more obvious than previously seen.  Thus, Mubarak’s reign lasted just shy of 30 years.

As most of you know, a Saturn return occurs approximately every 28.5 years, and thus, Mubarak was currently going through his first Saturn return as a leader, when the protests began. When Mubarak took over in 1981, Saturn was in Libra at 13 degrees. When Mubarak resigned at 11AM on February 11, 2011, Saturn was at 16 degrees Libra. Of course, Saturn is lessons, limitations, and karma, while Libra is justice, harmony, right relationships, and Saturn is consulted exalted in this cardinal air sign. The first Saturn return of any cycle is a time of maturing. No longer is there an immature mindset. This is the wake up call to psychologically mature, as it is time and healthy. Then grounding occurs, and priorities are reevaluated and sometimes even re-prioritized. In some ways, it is a sobering up process.

I focus on this event today because it illustrates a certain point that is not as widely known about as other facets of astrology, and that is that events, major turning points, and life changes can also be considered to have astrological charts. When I give an Astrological Association of St Louis presentation on March 13, I will go into much more depth on this subject. (2 PM. 🙂 It is simply worth noting here that the timing of the Egyptian revolution is completely in line with Hosni Mubarak, and his reign over Egypt.

Also of note when you look at the two charts is that all of the major transits (Sun, Mars, Neptune, and Chiron) are forming a tense opposition to his natal Mars in Leo. Long story short, he was prepared to do whatever it would take to hold power, as is indicated by his Mars in Leo combination. This is especially true when you factor into the equation that Leo is a fixed sign. However, the stellium in Aquarius that was occurring that day was right in tune with the zeitgeist of the budding Age of Aquarius, and thus the tipping point was reached. All of this activity is also occurring at the Midheaven of the chart, which is the background energy that all of this plays out against. Aquarius energy is also that of universal ‘brotherhood’, and thus can be associated with the people and their desires. While the Aquarius energy for the day was occurring at the Midheaven point of that day’s chart due to the time all of this was occurring, the activity is also moving through Mubarak’s 2nd house, which is the house of resources and resource management. That is one of the sticking points of the protesters: money. Egypt is the most progressive Muslim nation on the planet, and on February 11, 2011, the Egyptian people showed why.

Blessings,
