Greetings!
Today we have the first full moon of the year, and it is occurring with the Sun in Capricorn and the Moon in her own sign of Cancer. I’m going to take this opportunity to break some things down, because I don’t know about you, but it has been a roller coaster since mid-December, so I would like to explain why this is happening. I get asked about it a lot, so I know I’m not the only one feeling it. I’m going to use a mix of astrological and non-astrological terms too, so it should be easy to follow.
Trace your memory back to approximately December 17, 2016. That was two days before Mercury went retrograde. During Mercury retrogrades, all kinds of things claw to the surface to be addressed, and things crop up to deal with for a second time. This lasted until this last Monday. The big pressurizing and trying aspect pattern that has been in the sky for most of that time has been a T-Square between Jupiter in Libra, Pluto in Capricorn, and Uranus in Aries. These are outer planets, so they move slowly, and thus the effects last longer. The Pluto in Capricorn part of it is what we’re seeing in the media and political scene. The Uranus in Aries is the search for identity and individuality that is currently a major theme in global cultures. The Jupiter in Libra manifests as a lot of emphasis on the “right” thing to do, but as we all know, that is subjective, so it is playing itself out in the name of religious and moral (or the intentional stances against them) situations we see in society at large. The T-Square aspect pattern is the how and the why there is friction. In other words, these three major areas of change are creating friction and not evolving smoothly. There’s a lot of division, and that is a major characteristic of T-Squares. The T-Square and the Mercury retrograde have been the two major components of almost the last month, and oh, don’t forget the New Moon a couple of weeks ago, too! Mars also entered into Pisces, drawing people more towards the spiritual side of life at best, cleaning and other personal improvements at its worst, so it has diversely been manifesting, but all of it has been in the name of change for the better.
Well, this week, everything changed. To begin with, Mercury went direct at the beginning of the week, so the situations mentioned above got cleared, and I assure you, if they didn’t get dealt with, they will come back up again, most likely during the next Mercury retrograde. The day after, the outer planet Eris went direct, and while the influence is minor, it is worth noting because when this happened, we had an uncommon event occur that will be lasting until about February 4, and that is that all of the major bodies in the solar system are moving direct, so this is the perfect time for forward momentum, forward motion, and the advancement of plans. So, if you’ve been waiting for the opportune time, this is it!
But before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s talk about this Full Moon. Remember that T-Square I mentioned? Well, for yesterday, today, and tomorrow, it gets turned into its tenser brother, a Grand Cross. This is occurring because the Moon is in Cancer, which is the only cardinal sign that is not involved in the above mentioned T-Square, so temporarily, the intensity gets dialed up a notch, so you may find this is a particularly tense Full Moon. However, the Moon moves fast, so it will be fading soon. So what can you do, then? Actually, it’s a simple solution that comes to us through esoteric astrology, and that is that it is wise to work on your spirit contact, and the development of the spiritual side of life, however you define it. The atmosphere is ripe for increased spirit contact and energy manipulation, and for the finer energies to flow into the structures you have in your life. A good focus for this time is the nurturing of the self, balanced with the career and occupation.
